ALISON CROCKETT....
On Becoming A Woman
Brooklyn-based vocalist, songwriter and pianist Alison Crockett knew
early in life that she would pursue a music career. While living and performing in Philly she met DJ/Producer
King Britt. From that meeting Alison recorded the track 'Season's Change' for the groundbreaking KIng Britt Presents.....Sylk
130 album "When The Funk Hits The Fan." She also recorded four other tracks for that album.
After touring with Sylk 130, Alison spent much of her time in and
around a heavy jazz scene and began working with Hip Hop/Jazz pioneer Greg Osby. Alison was then invited to participate
in several world famous Jazz Festivals and appeared on the same stage with Jazz luminaries Nnenna Freelon and Herbie
Hancock. That exposure led to her work with UK based acid jazz collective US3 (noted for their 1994 hit 'Flip-Fantasia')
as their first lead vocalist.
Now as a solo artist Alison Crockett has something wonderful in store
for the world to hear. Alison describes her debut album "On Becoming A Woman" as a cross between Jill
Scott, Meshell Ndegeocello and 4Hero, but make no mistake, it's pure Alison Crockett! The album has already been
released in Japan and will soon be making it's world wide debut in early 2004.
